World Gemological Services appraisal services offers up-to-the-minute market and price analysis by our expert in-house researchers to determine appropriate insurance and/or estate appraisal valuations. To sum it all up, World Gemological Services now offers a NATION WIDE Mail-in Appraisal Program (MAP, ©/pending). Now any client can mail-in their item(s) for appraisal(s) to our Newport Beach Processing Center. Mail-in appraisal are quickly evaluated and returned promptly. 

World Gemological Services new ‘MAP’ program is a unique, proficient and effective method to order appraisals on-line, over the phone and by mail. For more information, you can contact us by phone or by email.

  • Two (2) copies of the final appraisal view sample copy
  • Detailed description with weights, measurements, clarity, color, etc…
  • Three (3) pictures of each item.*

* Some appraisals (like watches, bracelets, pendants, necklaces) may have two pictures.

 Types and Benefits of Appraisals:

  • Insurance Replacement Value: Item(s) to be appraised in order to receive insurance coverage, in case of loss, theft, or damage.
  • Jewelry Estate Appraisals: The most common need is to facilitate the process to settle an estate, or just for resale, including but not limited to divorce proceedings. One of the best ways to determine the value of ‘estate jewelry’ is to consult with our team of qualified Graduate Gemologists (GIA) at World Gemological Services who specializes in ‘Jewelry Estate’ Valuations.’ The needs of ‘Estate Appraisals’ can assist executors or family members in many situations to ascertain value of an inherited or distributed item(s), assisting in the division of property within an estate. Upon request, we may be able to provide assistance in the process of estate liquidations in certain situations.
  • Accurate appraisals: It's important to have an accurate identificaion of your item(s). Most major insurance companies require an appraisal of personal property (jewelry, diamonds or gemstones) by a qualified appraiser. Executors often time need assistance in identifying, determine estate value, distribution and/or liquidation of jewelry and/or loose gemstones.
